St. Patrick's Day

Well obviously it was St. Patrick's Day today.

Computer Boy who is 12 years old is something of a non-conformist and made it a point to tell me that he was going to make sure not to wear green to school today. His favorite sports team wears green and when I got home, he had their shirt and colors on. I said, "Hey, you wore green to school" and he said "Nope, I put it on when I got home."

Skate Kid who is 6 years old wore green to school and they apparently had some festivities there. That is cool as our tax dollars are at work there. When I got home, he asked me what we would be doing to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Hmmmm. "Well we are not Irish so I did not really have anything planned." Looking at him, I saw that this was not going to work.

Thinking quickly, I then said "I saw the Burger King down the street has shamrocks hanging from the ceiling. We could go there for some frozen cokes".

"Drinks?!" he said, "We are getting meals. They are giving away Nickelodeon stuff there now." Too many cable tv commercials.

"Ok", I guess. "A few hours after dinner, we can stop there for a snack."

Well, today it was 65 degrees in Michigan and after dinner, a few of Skate Kid's friends came over and they played and ran around outside for a few hours until it was dark. When Skate Kid came in, he looked to be zombie-like tired and we quickly gave him a bath and got him to bed. No resistance.

Manipulation thwarted. (Until tomorrow when he remembers)
