Per the Denver Post, recently fired Rockies' manager, Clint Hurdle when appearing as a guest analyst for MLB Network was asked why the Rockies have been playing better lately.
His response: "It starts at the top with manager."
Wow! I am still doing a double-take on this one but I am assuming this is not a misquote and yep, he is saying that the new manager, Jim Tracy is doing what he couldn't do.
I think I have a new favorite ex-manager (in the booth anyway).
Ironically, this little bit of frankness/humility would probably assist him in getting a full time television gig but at the same time would probably hamper any attempt to get another managerial position.
One step forward, two steps back.
