Magglio, what did you do to your hair?!

Before and after pictures of Magglio Ordonez who showed up to the game last night at Comerica Park minus about 14 inches of hair.

What to make of this very significant development?

Well on the Tiger's blogosphere, almost without exception, the men seem to applaud the haircut and the women seem to absolutely hate it.

Not to be a contrarian or anything but I am with the ladies here. (In the interests of full disclosure, my wife also does not like it and that does hold some weight here) First off, Magglio seemed to hit better with long hair and even won a batting title a few years ago with the unruly mop. More importantly, I thought it was pretty cool when he was running the bases and his helmet would fly off with his hair flying all around; he looked like the lead singer of Slayer or something. There is just not enough heavy metal in baseball.

Computer Boy asked me if people (mostly kids but some adults) will still be wearing Magglio wigs at the ballpark. I told him that I did not know but you could probably pick one up cheap now on ebay if you could get past the hygiene issues.

Following GM and Chrysler, this just seems like another great Detroit institution going right down the tubes. One more blow to the city, if you ask me.

I was thinking that maybe Miguel Cabrera could carry on this great tradition for us but the more I think about this, it probably would just turn into a big afro for him and the "hat hair" might scare the little kids at the park so it looks like we will just have to accept this. (I guess)
