Topps American Heritage - Alexander Hamilton

I think Alexander Hamilton looks a little "less than masculine" in this card.

I guess I can see why Aaron Burr was not afraid to duel with him.

Hamilton had eight children, most of them sons, and was involved in the first sex scandal of the new Republic. Blame the painter, not him.

The 18th century had different standards of masculinity. Men of Hamilton's class wanted to appear as gentlemen, not roughnecks.

Point taken.

The ladies might have liked the frills (hence the 8 children) but when Aaron Burr saw all of that lace, I bet he liked his chances.
