They gotta take him now
Ok, so Jason Bay has passed his physical with the Mets.
How did this happen? Didn't the doctor get the memo?
Now presumably the Mets HAVE to pay Bay all that money to hit in a pitcher's park and can't just tell their fans, "Hey we tried but how we were to know that he would fail his physical?"
I wonder if the Mets used a new doctor this time because they sure didn't seem to be communicating very well here.
I bet Omar Minaya is pissed! Stay away from him today.

Pardon me. Where are you going with this? Are you trying to imply the Mets paid too much? That would never happen in major league baseball.

A Desperate Mets Fan
I think Omar is gonna be pissed when he wakes up AFTER Bay signs the contract and realizes he isn't a Latin american player.
Oh well, at least he got Bengie Molina ;)
DC,
I think the Mets put in a very late bid on Bay because they felt they had to do something after last year and may have been relieved when Bay said he didn't want to play there and didn't accept the offer for 3 weeks after contacting a bunch of other teams.
I like Bay. I really do but it appears that we have a player going to a team that he doesn't really want to play for and further the team didn't pursue him seriously until the very end so I don't know how much they REALLY REAALY coveted him.
This one could be really weird.
(I also could be full of it and this could be a match made in heaven.)

Anthony,
I cannot get on Minaya too much about Molina.
He did successfully avoid Jason Kendall who is now the Royals problem.

I always love the sports term 'pending a physical'. Really? Like a superstar player is just going to completely lose it between October and January.
What are they looking for in those physicals anyway?
He is the white Bobby Bonilla. Just wait.
