Maybe the clubhouse can double as a firing range

Earlier this week, Major League Baseball issued a directive prohibiting guns and certain other weapons from the clubhouse.

I didn't comment on it because I didn't think anybody could possibly disagree with the new policy and essentially thought this was non-story.

Well, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Cardinals pitcher, Ryan Franklin expressed disappointment with this policy.

"There are a few guys that screwed it up for everybody," Franklin said. "If it wasn't for the NFL* guy a couple years ago bringing a weapon into a nightclub...you've just got to be smart."

"If you grew up around it, being in the outdoors and stuff, I was taught as a young kid how to respect firearms. First of all, you don't get stupid with it. Always treat a gun like it's loaded. That's what I taught my son and daughters. There's a place for them."**

I think that's enough to get a feel for Franklin's opinion on this subject. My work is done here.

Feel free to talk among yourselves.

*Ever heard of Gilbert Arenas and the NBA?

*I guess everywhere.

My parents taught me about guns before they taught me about sex (come to think of it we never did have that conversation).

It is a right of passage.
