They're going to what?!

AP reports that the Milwaukee Brewers announced that they will erect a bronze statue at Miller Park honoring Bud Selig.

What the.....?!

(Looking around. Am I being punk'd?)

This came out Monday and I have been holding this because I keep rereading this to see if it is a trick or if this is written in code and it really means something else but now I guess I have to take this at face value. The Brewers are really going to erect a bronze statue at Miller Park honoring Bud Selig.

LOOK, IF I AM BEING PUNK"D, YOU CAN COME OUT NOW!

Still nothing.

I guess it is true.

I never so much wanted to be a pigeon.

Please, no.

I understand that Bud Selig has an important place in the history of the Brewers, but no, not a statue. Especially when the other statues at Miller Park are of Aaron and Yount.

Big League Stew has a post about the statue. Interesting take.

Thanks. I wasn't aware of that the other statues were of Aaron, Yount and apparently one honoring workers killed during the construction of the park which makes this doubly nutty.

A prominent plaque? Ok.

Name the park after him for all I care (though I know that this is impossible in these days of corporate sponsorship) but a statue next to Aaron and Yount is in bad taste in my mind.

I saw his reference to pigeons and I quickly checked the time of his post to mine and see that he beat me. Oh well, there are only a finite amount of original thoughts floating around out there.
