Zero chance that this clause gets triggered

Buster Olney reports that among other incentive bonus clauses in his contract with the Tigers, Johnny Damon has one that pays him $100,00 if he wins a gold glove.

IF HE WINS A GOLD GLOVE!!

What about if he wins 20 games?!

Heck, the Tigers could have made it $10 million with no real risk of paying it and they would come out looking like good guys in the process.

I sure hope that this clause was not the big hold-up in this contract.

Hey, 100K buys like 10 houses in Detroit. He could become a land baron with that kind of money.

Still, not happening. Kind of funny that they even put it in there.

haha.

Should be $10K if he finished with a UZR better than -20.

G Moses.

Quite seriously, the average selling price of a house in the City of Detroit is less than $10,000.

When I was in college, a friend of mine bought a free-standing house for a few thousand dollars and just partied in it. I don't believe that he ever paid any taxes and he just abandoned it after a while. I told him that if he simply painted it, he would double his money but that just wasn't in the cards.

Name me another city in the United States where this happens.

Roy,

Actually I was looking last week and his UZR was a around -9 last year. Add in spacious Comerica Park and you might be around -20 but that number is getting into Manny territory so I don't know about that.
