AP reports that Major League Baseball has advised the Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers that they must speed up their games. Apparently the Yankees played the longest nine-inning games last year clocking in at 3:08 with the Red Sox and Dodgers clocking in at 3:04 and 3:02 respectively. The MLB average is apparently 2 hours and 52 minutes.
I think these teams score too many runs. A fatal flaw.
"Why can't you be more like the Pirates?! We got guidelines you know!"

I have a theory: IN order for these clubs to pay their high dollar athletes they prolong the games so people will by more food, more beer, more junkie trinkets, and memorabilia. Also by increasing the game times it provide potential income/commerce for the cities because if the game is late then some folks may rent a hotel room for the night while others may shop around the town or grab food and beer at local establishments. It's a business model used by none other than.....WALT DISNEY!
All fine on paper but why did Disney sell the Angels then?
Because they felt it was a drag on their profits.
Yes, no doubt it was as were the Mighty Ducks. Following up on your thought, Disney does very well gouging captive audiences which would seem to translate well to a ballpark and I am genuinely a bit surprised that it didn't work for them.
The Angels and the Ducks unforms were pretty horrid back then but still....
