baseball managers don't use words like "malign" come on, Art! you're just begging to be maligned. but seriously, the biggest bad they did to you, Art, was getting Hoffman to play you. Not that he can't act, he sure can, but his physique is about as athletic as Roseanne Barr.
My 14 year old son kind of said the same thing. Yes they did not characterize him very well but the crowning blow was the actor's physique which then put it over the top. We both still loved the movie.
