Not a coincidence!

Gregg Bell of AP reports that Jays pitcher, Brett Cecil left his eye glasses back in Toronto and therefore had to pitch yesterday in Seattle without them. It is noted that Cecil was seen squinting while he was looking in at the signs and had to ask for a few repeat signs from his catcher, John Buck because he could not see them.

In spite of this (or maybe because of this), Cecil had a very nice outing going 6 1/3 innings giving up only 2 runs and 7 hits and got the win.

I say this is no coincidence.

How would you like to hit against a guy who was squinting while looking in at the plate, missing signs from his catcher and could easily mistake your batting helmet for the catcher's mitt?

I wouldn't be very comfortable in the box. Would you?

It would be like the Dock Ellis psychedelic no-hitter without the LSD.

Don't believe me?

Let's see how he does in his next outing (presumably with his glasses).

If he gets shelled (and sorry Brett, I will not be surprised), if I am the pitching coach, do you know what I am going to tell him?
