"As of this writing, fifteen men in the history of organized baseball have ever thrown a perfect game. Only one of those men did it half-drunk, with bloodshot eyes, monster breath and a raging skull-rattling hangover. That would be me."

So Felix Hernandez either will or will not throw another perfect game tonight
He either will or he won't.
50% in my book.
Pretty sure about this.
You'd be crazy not to watch.

Real smart!
Good thing the headset miraculously shorted out a split-second before he was electrocuted!
I'd never throw a perfect game for the White Sox!
Not worth it!

"I don't know if the kids played with it or not. I think it's in the woods behind our house. It didn't have anything on it, and it was just sitting there. I guess the kids needed a ball to play with." - on what happened to the ball from the game

Profound clubhouse thoughts
"We had a number of chances and they had a number of chances."
1 star out of 5 on the "cliche-meter": The only game this doesn't apply to is a "perfect game".

Milt Pappas
Born on today's date, Milt Pappas.
"Any of the four pitches could've been called a strike and the last two were definitely strikes. Froemming came to the mound after Stahl walked and I called him every name that I knew in the English language. When I ran out of names, I started calling him names in Greek." - On his claim that home plate umpire, Bruce Froemming denied him a perfect game on 9-2-72 by awarding a walk to Larry Stahl with two outs in the ninth inning after he had retired 26 straight batters.

Jim Joyce is scheduled to be behind the plate tomorrow!

People are talking about buying tickets to the game tomorrow just to boo (hopefully that is all) him. I just got an email from a friend who is only a very casual fan and also very mild-mannered who I see just learned a whole lot of curse words and insults today and wants to go to the game tomorrow.
Uggh.
I know this. Bud freaking HATES Jim Joyce now and would love nothing more than to club him over the head with an instant replay camera.
Plus when they get around to Country Joe's disciplinary hearing, Country Joe has the ultimate comeback:
"Not as bad as that guy!"
That would have been great to have seen Jason Donald argue the call.

David Wells

Born today, David Wells.
In 1998, Wells pitched a perfect game against the Twins. In his autobiography, Wells said he was "hung over" while pitching that game. Frankly, it is my understanding that Wells pitched many games "hung over" so I don't know that this is very noteworthy.
His autobiography also says that he strengthened his pitching arm as a kid by throwing rocks at homeless people.
(stunned silence)
What the?!
As much as it pains me to say so, maybe A-Rod is not so bad of a guy after all.
