Peter Schmuck of the Baltimore Sun reports that Buck Showalter of the Orioles likes (sounds more like "kind of" likes) new third baseman, Mark Reynolds.

"It's like Billy Martin said, 'You have to be careful liking players that are too much like you'. We're all so in love with the scrappy old infielders. You have to have to some big hairy guys too."

I agree 100% but it is obvious to me that Buck doesn't know what "big and hairy" really is though.

Juan Samuel never perfected the "two finger touch"....

....so they found someone who could.

So Buck Showalter is there now.

After the Orioles 6-3 win over the Angels, Orioles new manager, Buck Showalter was asked about the way he handled the late-inning relief duties because if he had handled the substitutions just a little differently either Michael Gonzalez or Alfredo Simon could have gotten a "save".

"Believe me, I know the save rule and, quite frankly, it doesn't carry much weight with me. I like the win rule a little bit better."

Give that guy a lifetime contract!

Pay him whatever he wants!

Better yet would be a manager who has never heard of the save rule but you can't have everything, I know.
